NAHL: Aberdeen Wings

Camp Registration

The Aberdeen Wings 2014 Pre Draft Evaluation Camp will be held from May 23-25, 2014 at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights, MN.  Players who aspire to play in the NAHL, the only Tier II Junior 'A' league in the United States, are invited to showcase their abilities in front of our coaching and scouting staffs.  Interestingly, two of our current Wings players were identified by our staff at last year’s Pre Draft Evaluation Camp.  They were free agent, undrafted players who came to camp prepared and ready to impress our staff.

The North American Hockey League has quickly become the The League of Opportunity.  Over 400 NAHL graduates have progressed to the NCAA Division I level and 66 current NAHL players have committed to the Division I level for the 14-15 and 15-16 seasons.  The NAHL’s pathway to success doesn’t stop at the college ranks.  103 former NAHL players have gone on to compete in the National Hockey League.

In just four full seasons a member of the NAHL, eleven former Wings players are currently playing or have signed letters of intent to compete at the Division I level.  Current collegiate standouts like Cory Ward (Bemidji State University), Taylor Richart (Miami University) and Zach Nagelvoort (University of Michigan) all developed in Aberdeen before moving on to college hockey.  Four members of our current 2013-2014 Wings team have also made commitments to Division I programs for the 14-15 and 15-16 seasons.

We are proud to say that our record of advancement doesn’t just extend to the college level. This past season, we were fortunate to have two current and one former Wings player represent their countries in international competition.  Former Wing and future Minnesota Golden Gopher Steven Johnson represented Team USA at the 2013 World Junior “A” Challenge and current Wings players Lennart Palauch (Germany) and Bjorn Sigurdarson (Iceland) competed for their respective countries in the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championships.

Our home arena, the Odde Ice Center is one of the finest facilities in the NAHL.  This past August, the Odde underwent an $800,000 renovation project that included the addition of a state-of-the-art pro style locker room equipped with individual player stalls, player’s lounge, medical room, equipment room and a weight training area.  Eight corporate suites were added to the arena, increasing the Odde’s seating capacity to 1,600.  Sellout crowds are common in Aberdeen, as our organization has led the NAHL’s Central Division in attendance in each of our four seasons of existence.

In addition to our great facilities and track record of player advancement, we are most proud of the culture we are making an effort to foster and the program we are working to build.  Our goal is to identify competitive, high character people and provide a stable, disciplined environment for our athletes to grow on and off the ice as players and most importantly, as people.  We are proud of the progress we have made and are even more excited about where we are headed.

We hope you will take the first step to becoming a part of our organization's bright future and join us in Mendota Heights this May.
